A lot of places online present a variation of the same list of typical wedding anniversary presents. Wikipedia even has a page dedicated to the topic.
While it's fine to use these themes as inspiration and to allude to them in your anniversary gift, think about it - is your partner really going to love a present just because it's linen, wood, bronze, aluminum, or steel? I think using something made of the appropriate material can be cute, but mostly a good anniversary present is about two things.
Firstly, it's about reaffirming your love for and commitment to your partner, and secondly, it's about giving something that conveys these feelings in a genuine, personal, and lasting manner.
So take your upcoming wedding anniversary as a unique opportunity to tell your partner in an extraordinary (literally, out of the ordinary, not everyday) way what you love about them, what you've learned from him/her in the past year, and how you're looking forward to the future together.
Underline that sentiment with a present that your partner can wear, look at, touch, that lasts, or an event that is unforgettable (extraordinary again), so that you can cherish the memory of that day for a long time.
Just as a side idea, why don't you both start a joint wedding anniversary chronicle that you add to every year. That in itself will become more and more valuable with every anniversary, and it will allow you to relive the feelings of years past.
